Terms of service

Welcome to The Yorkshire Kitchen. These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of our website and the purchase of our products. By accessing this website and placing an order, you accept these terms in full.

1. The Contract Between Us

When you place an order on our website, you are making an offer to purchase goods. We will send you an email to confirm that we have received your order.

A legally binding contract is only formed when we send you a dispatch confirmation email. We reserve the right to decline any order (for example, if a product is out of stock or we are unable to ship to your location).

2. Pricing and Payment

  • All prices are shown in GBP (£) and are inclusive of VAT (where applicable) at the current rate.

  • We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but changes will not affect orders that have already been confirmed.

  • Payment must be made in full at the time of ordering via our secure payment gateway.

3. Accuracy of Content

We take every care to ensure that descriptions and photography accurately represent our handcrafted butters. However, as our products are artisanal and made in small batches, slight variations in colour or texture may occur. All weights and dimensions are approximate.

4. Food Safety and Allergens

Your health is our priority.

  • All allergens are clearly listed on our product pages and on the physical product packaging.

  • It is the customer's responsibility to check these details before consumption.

  • Once delivered, products must be stored according to the instructions provided (e.g., immediate refrigeration for savoury butters) to ensure food safety.

5. Delivery and Ownership

  • Ownership of the goods passes to you once we have received payment in full and the goods have been delivered to you.

  • From the time of delivery, the goods are at your risk. We cannot be held liable for the deterioration of perishable goods if they are not collected or stored correctly following a successful delivery.

  • Please refer to our Shipping & Delivery Policy for specific dispatch schedules and rates.

6. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, The Yorkshire Kitchen owns the intellectual property rights for all material on this website, including product names, descriptions, and photography. You may view and print pages for your own personal use, but you must not republish or redistribute our content without written consent.

7. Limitation of Liability

While we strive for perfection, The Yorkshire Kitchen shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damage arising out of the use of our products or website, except as required by UK law. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to these terms and conditions will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business or legal requirements. The version posted on our website at the time you place your order will be the version that applies to your purchase.

Why this earns an "Exceptional" grade:

  1. Contract Clarity: It clearly states when the contract is formed (at dispatch). This protects you if you accidentally list a price wrong or run out of stock.

  2. Allergen Responsibility: Explicitly mentioning allergens is a major trust signal for food businesses.

  3. Risk & Ownership: It clarifies that once the butter is delivered, the "risk" is the customer's (e.g., if they leave it in the sun), which is vital for perishable goods.

  4. Governing Law: Stating "England and Wales" is a requirement for UK-based stores to look professional to high-level auditors.
